Chin Yen Lee
Chin Yen was born in Malaysia and raised in Singapore. She studied piano with the internationally renowned Mr. Lee Kum Sing, and viola with Mr. Goh Soon Tioe. Her musical credentials include an L.R.S.M. (performance) from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and multiple awards and prizes, and she was the winner, in 1968, of a four year scholarship awarded by the Royal Schools of Music to study music in the United Kingdom.
Chin Yen comes from a very musical family. She and her three siblings perform chamber music from time to time. Chin Yen is a founding member of the Vancouver Piano Ensemble and, together with the ensemble, has toured and performed music for two or more pianists locally, and in Europe and Asia
Besides music, Chin Yen is also interested in art, travel, food, photography and animals, and has a taste for living a little dangerously. She has a Ph.D. in law from the University of London, and has both taught (at Monash University in Melbourne) and practised law (principally in Melbourne and Sydney), in Australia. She is the author of numerous legal publications and several books
Currently, she lives in Vancouver with her inquisitive dog, two beautiful pianos, and a garden full of weeds.
